I have been using winning colors with all of my assignments, and my class is getting alone with each other so much better.
My cadets just finished an assignment, which was to create a 21st Century Mount Rushmore. I assigned each cadet a partner, and they had to agree on the four faces to place on their Mount Rushmore, explain their leadership attributes, etc. I assigned the groups based on cadets who usually would not work together well. Each day I placed a “Power Word” on the boards under the different behavior traits and instructed the class that if they weren’t working together well, to use the “Power Words” to get their partner more engaged in the project.
Check the box for success!!!!
The cadets are now communicating with each other in a manner that is not bullying and not belittling to each other. If you set the standards and use Winning Colors, you will have accomplished classroom management, keep the cadets on task, and they may even find that they have something in common. By the way, I told them that they would share the grade and that they were as strong as their weakest link. Talking about magic! The true magic is that "Winning Colors" works, you just need to use it.
