It would be great to share funding resources. If you have grant programs or other funding sources will you please share here?

Funding has been an extreme challenge for us. However, we manage to get funding by involving the parents in the school. Our parents created a Booster Club. The club was created with a constitution and bylaws found by researching other booster clubs online. Every year, parents send a letter out with all of our Cadets asking for a $40 donation. It is not mandatory but many parents oblige. With the money collected, they purchase our awards and ribbons for the Cadets. If the Booster Club is running short on funds, they will create fundaraisers to make up the difference. Again, this is all Parent run. The commitment on your part is calling a parent meeting and getting them to agree that there is a need. Once they agree, they should take over funding the program. Hope this helps.

Hey Victor! That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing. Wish you could be here with us. Next year, for sure! We'll be in touch soon to get things rolling with the CAB.

During the break out sessions yesterday we discussed a number of different options. Here are the highlights:
1. Funding and fund raising must be done in accordance with district policies. Always check the policies of the district when looking at conducting a fund raiser.
2. Typical fund raisers (chocolate, popcorn, wrapping paper, etc sales) often are set so that the district requires having the funds in the account in order to cover the "cost" of the fund raiser.
3. "Easy" money (simple fundraisers) are school dances, free dress days, school hosted drill meets, physical fitness and academic competitions are great options for raising funds.
4. Crowdrise (www.crowdrise.com), GoFund Me (www.gofundme.com) are good resources for donations. Again, follow up with the district regarding policies for receipt of donations.
5. Donors Choose (www.donorschoose.org) is another resource for contributions from area businesses.
6. Showcase events - events that spotlight the various electives on campus providing options for parent donations and silent auctions. These events can be run and managed by the PTA.
7. Booster clubs - check with the district on policies for management and money collection/distribution.

Thanks for the great breakdown Huard. I also spoke about the use of grants as a possible funding source for curriculum and technology. Obviously, you will need to check with your district policies (as mentioned above), but if that is a possibility, I recommend filling out the form located at this link. In addition to local funders that you may already have a relationship with, we can also locate organizations in your area that have provided funding to schools in the past. We'll also give you a DYNAMITE grant proposal letter that you can use as a boilerplate. goo.gl/forms/mWWWSMZGessBEsN92
